PrimeroEdge > Setting up New Ingredients

If you have an item in GDSN Connect that has a Menu Item that is not currently set up as an Ingredient in PrimeroEdge, it will not be created via the standard data exchange process defined in the Exporting Data from GDSN Connect and Importing Data into PrimeroEdge articles.  This article describes an alternate process for how GDSN Connect can help do this.

Step 1: Export the "New Ingredient" template from GDSN Connect

  • Select "New Ingredients" from the combobox at the top of the page
  • This will show all food items which do not have an Ingredient in PrimeroEdge.
  • To add the Ingredient in PrimeroEdge, change the Export Type to "Menu & Stock Item" or "Menu Item Only" via the Quick Edit option in the [...] action menu.
  • Once you have selected all the items that you want to create new Ingredient for, press [Download] to download the New Ingredient template.

Step 2: Import the "New Ingredient" template into PrimeroEdge

Prior to importing this file, you may want to review the file to make sure that everything is correct and to add any missing information. The file should be uploaded in PrimeroEdge in Macro-Enabled format only.

  • Navigation: PrimeroEdge Application --> Menu Planning --> Configuration
  • Click on “Import/Export” Menu option
  • The system will begin the import wizard at this stage
  • Click on “Import Option” and click Next
  • The system will show Data Source and Import Type tab
  • Click Data Source as “Local” and Import Type as “Ingredients”
  • The system will prompt the user to select the desired file to upload.
  • Click “Browse” button and select the file downloaded from GDSN Connect in the prior step.
  • Click Finish
  • The system shall import the new ingredients and display the summary of ingredients created along with log on failed ingredients due to any mandatory information missing (Ex: Serving Size)

Step 3: Sync the data back into GDSN Connect to register these new ingredient IDs

Fully syncing these new Ingredients back into GDSN Connect is extremely important as it will tell GDSN Connect that they have been set up in PrimeroEdge.  This will remove them from the New Ingredients list and it will also make those items available to be updated via the standard data exchange process. To sync these items back into GDSN Connect, please follow these steps:
