Vendor Item Upload vs Catalog

If you are new to GDSN Connect, you may be wondering how to add and manage your product data in the platform. Well, there are two distinct methods you can use: Vendor Item Upload and Catalog Search.

Vendor Item Upload is a tool that allows you to upload product data files in bulk to the platform. This tool is particularly useful if you have large volumes of product data to manage and share with multiple vendors. With Vendor Item Upload, you can use our Excel template to map your data to the appropriate fields for seamless integration with trading partner systems.

Catalog Search, on the other hand, is a tool that allows you to search, browse and add items one by one from the catalog of products. This tool is particularly useful if you need to find and compare products from multiple suppliers. With Catalog Search, you can search for products by various criteria, including brand, product name, category, or GTIN, and view product data and attributes from multiple vendors side-by-side for easy comparison.

It's important to note that both Vendor Item Upload and Catalog Search serve different purposes. Vendor Item Upload is primarily intended for a bulk upload process which makes adding data simpler, while Catalog Search is primarily intended for users to search and compare products from multiple vendors one by one. Choose the method that best suits your needs and make the most out of GDSN Connect's product data management tools.
